The Upper Cumberland Development District, in conjunction with Empower Upper Cumberland, is currently accepting applications for part-time and full-time Empower Resource Coordinator(s). The Empower Resource Coordinator will work to elevate the economic status of the Upper Cumberland region and businesses throughout; improving workforce conditions for both employers and employees by identifying barriers and creating solutions to overcome them. The position will support the efforts of Empower Upper Cumberland to reduce poverty in the region.

Duties Include:

  • Builds relationships with stakeholders throughout the region identifying needs and providing access to resources to address identified needs
  • Researches and writes proposals and grant applications to secure funding for identified challenges.
  • Seeks out best practices from across the nation to study, replicate, and adapt as appropriate
  • Completes reporting and program administration requirements of multiple funding agencies
  • Assists in the development of short and long-term economic and community development plans
  • Gathers information and prepares studies, reports and recommendations to achieve stated goals.
  • Serves as a liaison to local, state, and federal agencies
  • Attends training and becomes proficient in job-related subject matters

Requirements:

  • Highly driven, self-starter able to chart the course of action to mitigate various workforce challenges
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in identifying weaknesses and problem-solving through critical thinking
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to attend necessary training
  • Ability to work after hours on occasion
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask

This position is part of a grant with 2.5 years currently remaining. Transferable skills are desired to increase the opportunities to extend employment and the ability to continue serving the region. The successful application will possess a bachelor’s degree in business, political science, economic development, or a related degree is preferred.
Experience in manufacturing, business development, or workforce fields is valued.
