The Empower Education Coordinator (Coordinator) at Tennessee Tech University is a key position within the Empower Upper Cumberland project. The Coordinator will facilitate higher educational attainment and provide comprehensive support services for the Empower Project’s Families. The Coordinator will
play a critical role in guiding Empower Families through the higher education landscape and assisting them in understanding their educational possibilities, offering support in: educational planning, scholarship applications, career planning, and accessing relevant resources. Additionally, the Coordinator is responsible for organizing educational workshops and disseminating marketing materials to promote the program’s initiatives.
Duties Include:
1. Collaborate with the Tennessee Tech Empower project team to develop and implement higher educational attainment and support services for Empower Families.
2. Provide transitional coaching to Empower Families, guiding them in navigating higher education options, understanding available educational resources, and making informed decisions.
3. Engage Empower Families in activities and workshops that address poverty-related issues and promote educational opportunities.
4. Assist Empower Families in educational planning, including identifying appropriate programs, understanding admission requirements, and exploring scholarship opportunities.
5. Support Empower Families in career planning, connecting them with relevant resources and assisting with the development of career pathways.
6. Organize and facilitate educational workshops and events for Empower Families, ensuring their relevance and effectiveness in promoting educational attainment.
7. Disseminate marketing materials to raise awareness and promote the program’s initiatives within the community.
8. Collaborate with the project team to collect and analyze data, providing valuable insights and recommendations for program improvement.
9. Stay up-to-date with current trends and best practices in education, poverty alleviation, and community engagement to continuously enhance program effectiveness.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree in education, social sciences, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
2. Demonstrated experience in program coordination, preferably in an educational setting.
3. Strong knowledge of higher education systems and available educational resources.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and connect with diverse stakeholders.
5. Proven ability to build and maintain effective partnerships and collaborations.
6. Ability to provide guidance and support to individuals and families from diverse backgrounds and with varying educational needs.
7. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
8. Proficient in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
9. Flexibility to travel most days of the week to satellite locations across the Upper Cumberland region of Tennessee to meet one-on-one with Empower Families.
10. Comfortable with frequent face-to-face meetings with Empower Families.
11. Willingness to work some evenings, with occasional weekend work (37.5 hours total per week)
